Natural and classic lake wedding// Lake Tyler Petroleum Club// Raquel + Andrew

Happy Wedding Wednesday, this week we are featuring a very special wedding that happens to be my most favorite wedding of all time!  I never got around to posting MY wedding and I think that this week is the perfect week to do so since Andrew and I celebrated our two year wedding anniversary yesterday, March 21st.

Ever since I can remember I always wanted a spring wedding, and I just love that we were able to make it happen on the very first weekend!  Andrew and I wanted a lake wedding somewhere in Texas, we are both very outdoorsy and have lots of home state pride so we wanted to incorporate both those elements in our big day.  Since I am in the wedding industry and have been so for seven years now, I didn’t want a venue that I was working at every weekend. I wanted a venue that would be special and yet beautiful enough to visit again.  My Dad actually mentioned The Lake Tyler Petroleum Club and once we visited, Andrew and I both knew it was the one.  It checked all the boxes, we loved the lake, the gorgeous venue, and the fact our guests could have a weekend getaway to experience East Tyler, plus there were cabins on site that our parents and grandparents stayed in.

Our wedding style was very similar to our every day style-simple, natural, rustic, and classic.  Green was the obvious choice for our wedding since it’s our favorite color and because it was the first weekend of spring I wanted to add pops of vibrant yellows, oranges, white and gold.  Our centerpieces and overall design elements were simple and natural. Bridesmaids dresses and napkin colors were sage green and the flowers brought the pop of color.  The centerpieces were a combination of potted plants that we let our guests take home, floral arrangements in hollowed out branch containers, and tall wooden birch pieces reminiscent of teepees.  I originally planned to use potted tall tree topiaries as centerpieces but the frost just weeks before our wedding killed the trees and I couldn’t find replacements in time. Luckily I made these birch pieces for my bride Liz and used them again at my wedding.  Shout out to Liz for the idea 🙂

We dined on the best BBQ in Texas from Stanley’s, danced the night away with Royal Dukes Band and enjoyed the company of our closest friends and big ole families! It was the best weekend and the most perfect wedding day.  Mother Nature rained us out and although we did not get to exchange our vows outside on the lake as planned, our amazing photographer traveled back to Tyler with us the following month to do a “day after session”.  It was a perfect sunny evening in the midst of a very rainy spring season and we danced around the venue as if it was our wedding day all over again, plus I got to wear that gorg dress one more time.  I hope you enjoy these photos as much as I did living the moments.  Thank you again to our incredible team of vendors from Tyler and Dallas for making it all happen!
